Description
Willow Tree sculptural art forms beautifully express love, closeness, healing, courage, hope… all the emotions of a life well lived. Artist Susan Lordi hand carves the original of each figure from her studio in Kansas City Missouri. Pieces are cast from her original carvings, and individually painted by hand. Expression is revealed through gestures only… a tilt of the head, placement of the hands, a turn of the body. The simplicity of form and absence of facial features signify Willow Tree. It is Susan’s hope that these pieces be meaningful to both giver and receiver.

I met my best friend, Corinne, on the first day of school the year we started 7th grade. We were both starting at a new school. We were friends through high school, and were in each other's weddings. I have two sons, she has one daughter. With our new families, and living and working in different cities, we didn't get to see each other a lot. But we always wrote our "annual letter" in a Christmas card each year, to keep up with what was happening in each other's lives. In July of 2016, my sons and their wives planned a surprise 60th birthday party for me. They contacted Corinne through Facebook, so she was there for my "surprise!" She brought me the "Heart and Soul" Willow Tree piece; she said it reminded her of us, when we were girls and shared our thoughts and dreams with each other. It sits on my mantle, along with another Willow Tree piece I have (Quietly), to remind me of my "forever friend". Our friendship has endured almost 48 years!

My friend Janet, with whom I have been friends since we started school together at age 5, gave me this figurine yesterday for my 60th birthday. I was very touched & it brought a tear to my eye. A 55 year friendship is something to be cherished.

My sister, Polly, gave me this piece a few years ago. She said it reminded her of the two of us sitting up late at night in our gowns sharing secrets, memories, troubles....everything. It is one of my most prized possessions, because it reminds me of her.

My sister had just gotten into the "Inspire" phase, and she was buying these figurines left, right, and center. I snooped around on the Willow Tree website after she was on it, and immediately fell in love with Wisdom. I swear, she looks like me. My best friend's birthday is coming up, and I felt that this was the right piece, as we've been friends for years.
