Love of Learning Memory Box
Submitted by Deborah in California, February 2010
When I was young, I loved to read. In fact I still love to read, but part of it was due to the support of my teachers. One teacher in particular, my third grade teacher, would catch me reading in class all the time, but instead of calling attention to it, making me feel like I was in trouble, she would come up behind my little desk, put her hand on my shoulder as she was talking, letting me know she had noticed my reading. Because of this amazing woman, I realized I wanted to be a teacher, and am currently in college on my way to achieving that dream. Recently I decided I needed to give her a proper thank you to show her how much she meant to me. When I found this box, I realized it was perfect for her, to represent her support of my 'love of learning'. I made a little square scrapbook of pictures from third grade... I gave her the gift this past Christmas and she was so touched that she started to cry... We are even closer than ever, and now that I am officially on track to follow in her footsteps I visit as often as I can, and always this little box is on a place of honor in her front room!
