    Friendship

Submitted by Krista Campbell in Old Town, Florida, May 2017

I am a multi-cancer survivor. Mary was the American Cancer Society Navigator at our hospital. I was very angry when I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Mary not only did her job to help me, but she became my dear friend since. She gave me a framed picture as a gift after one of their cancer walks showing their team name "KRISTA" shortly after I completed my treatments. The "friendship angel" she gave me on my 5th anniversary of survivorship is standing next to that picture. This gift was her way of saying, "Good girl, you can do this and I'm here for you every step of the way!"

Submitted by Suzie Curtis in San Diego, February 2017

My story about your Friendship girl has several layers. I have reached out to a PEO Sister/ friend who is going though a series of ongoing cancer journeys and we have become soul sisters. I am the only one she will see or spend time ( which is very limited for many reasons) with. Her husband is a Prince and makes my visits very special. My friend could not get out for Christmas shopping so he did some for her. He choose for me your Friendship girl. Little did he know that the flower and symbol of our PEO sisterhood is the daisy , which she holds in her hands. When I told him how much his chosen gift to me meant to me he was thrilled. Felicity Friendship sits on my desk where I see her every day and am reminded of a kind and loving husband who picked her out because of her name and because he recognizes how close his wife and I have become. I have other memorable treasures from your Willow Tree collection and cherish each one. I trust you realize how your gift of Willow Tree to us has spread JOY to so many. lovingly , Suzie

Submitted by Mellissa Norman in Mt Gambier, November 2016

My story is a simple one. On my first day of kindergarten at the age of four, I met a special friend. We had play dates and sleepovers and our families became friends as well. After a few years we both moved to different schools, and the time we spent together became less. However we have always kept in contact and supported each other in life's ups and downs. On my 40th birthday this year, my dear friend of 36 years gave me the gift of my first Willow Tree, Friendship. This represents to me the unwavering friendship she has given to me all these years, and the hope we will continue to nurture this for many years to come.

She gave me the Friendship figure when she was visiting me recently. It is a beautiful piece and every time I look at it I think of her and her sweet spirit.

I believe that there are no coincidences - I lost my two best friends due to illness. They were young beautiful and full of life. I miss them very much. I have always admired the Willow Tree collections, but never purchased one, but always wanted one. Today at lunch time from work I walked into a thrift shop. The first thing I spotted was this Friendship Willow Tree. I immediately thought of my two BFF's in Heaven. I will thank Nellie and Angie for my gift of finding the Willow Tree Friendship figure. Sending tons of love

We just lost my sister to a form of ALS, and yesterday after her funeral my sister, nieces and I were invited to her house to pick out one of her Willow Tree Angels from her collection to remember her by, as if I needed a reminder. The ones I was partial to were already taken, so I took the Friendship one to keep on my desk at work as a daily reminder of my sister Marilyn who struggled with this horrible disease so heroically! She will always be in my heart!

    Friendship

Submitted by Evelyn Craig in New Zealand, July 2014

I was given my FRIENDSHIP piece from my girlfriend - Marion Higgins who lives in Scotland. We have been friends since before school which is over four decades. I was recently diagnosed with cancer which, unfortunately, is terminal this time. Because of my circumstances, my family and I decided to visit my parents, friends and family back in Scotland and take a little trip around Europe. It was a very bittersweet holiday, knowing it will most likely be my last visit to see everyone. My girlfriend, Marion gave me the Friendship gift on the last day of my holiday. I have got to say it has a very special calming and spiritual feeling about it and I get a warm fuzzy feeling every time I look at. I've only had this piece for about two weeks, but I somehow feel that it bridges all of my memories from years gone by and has now become my memory keeper. It's hard to describe, but the colour, styling and appearance of this piece just seems so magical and somehow offers a clear reflection of my short life. Thank you for sharing your artistic skill in such a beautiful way. Evelyn Craig

We laugh together, and cry together. We lean on each other. I am so thankful for her! She is my gift from God! When I saw this, I knew I had to get it for her!

    Friendship

Submitted by Abby Boxman in New Jersey, January 2014

In July of 2011, I lost my middle son, Justin. After the loss of a child, you grasp for support from those who can identify with the pain, emptiness and void, that becomes your new journey. In October of that year, I attended a Compassionate Friends meeting. At the end of the meeting, I became engaged in conversation with three other women. Little did I know that these three would become the foundation of my new life. We have all lost our children, but we have found a new meaning in friendship, one that cannot be put into words. We started meeting weekly for lunches and have continued to do so for the past 27 months. The bond that we will forever carry is one of empathy, compassion and love. I commend us mothers, for we give each other the strength to get through the days. We all attribute our friendship to our angels, David, Willie, Joy and Justin. They are the ones who have brought us together. We share so many memories of our children to keep them alive and will continue to do so. Our bond of friendship and love is eternal among us, and in heaven, with our children. Compassionate Friends Forever, Joan, Rosetta, Ellen, Abby

    Friendship

Submitted by Linda Vesty in Loughborough, Leciestershire, December 2013

I received this last week for Christmas from Sue N. We don't see much of each other but I feel (and hope that she does too) that when the chips are down she is someone I can call on and look to for support and encouragement. The past few years have brought problems for us both but I know she understands my frustrations and worries, just as much as I do for her. She is a good friend who is always there in the back of my mind. Perhaps buying me this piece shows that she feels the same way too. Long may our friendship continue.

I met this woman just a short time ago, selling myself to her so I could watch her children as part of my at home daycare business. We have so much in common, deeper than a pair of matching shoes, or favorite color. It only took a short time for me to fall in love with her kids, her family. Likewise for her, about my family. She got a me a few gifts this birthday and Christmas, and this friendship doll is a symbol that we will always be buds. To the best and fullest!

Well my best friend Heather is that--a TRUE friend. Every time I look at it, it reminds me of her. You don't get many true and real friends, but the Willow Tree was a great gift to have from someone that I cherish as a friend and always will appreciate always. I love you friend :-)

After over 20 years I reunited with a past co-worker. Carla and I had our first visit yesterday and she gifted me a Willow Tree. I waited today at a moment of peace to open her gift to me as I know she carefully and thoughtfully choose a symbol of our friendship. As I just unwrapped and opened the gift I truly saw Carla's face on the absence of its facial features. The Willow Tree figure's arms holding flowers dearly close to the heart communicates and speaks volume to me for the joy Carla has in our resumed friendship and the peace serenity she wishes for my life. Every moment my eyes glance on this precious gift will remind me of my dear friend.

I am a newcomer to Willow Tree figurines. A long-time friend gave me the 'Friendship' figurine for my 60th birthday. The flowers clasped before her speak of our friendship being held close to our hearts. I immediately thought she was an angel. After reading the information about Willow Tree on the box I went to the website - and now I am intrigued. I love how she feels in my hands, and she speaks of our friendship, which has withstood many storms. This kind of art is beautiful to behold and gives meaning to friendship. She is a blessing to me.
