I love all of the sculptures but my favorite is "Beautiful Wishes." My mother passed away in 1983 at the age of 59. I was only 22. My mothers maiden name was Lilly and when I first saw this piece it reminded me of her. To see the sculpture holding the lilies reminds me of the love she had not only for me but my siblings as well. She has now been gone longer then I knew her and I miss her more each day.

    Beautiful Wishes

Submitted by Katherine Nord in New York, October 2016

My favorite Willow Tree figurine is "'Beautiful Wishes' (A gathering of beautiful wishes for you - love, health, happiness)". This figurine shows a young girl holding a large bouquet of Calla lilies. Although this figurine was given to me as a gift by my sister-in-law, I immediately related this figurine to my father's gifts of home grown Calla lilies for birthdays or special occasions. My father was a musician and for one series of dance band jobs he played, he was paid with a variety of colorful and beautiful Calla lily bulbs. My father loved to garden and after a few years of tending and caring for these Calla lilies, he was able to share and give away both additional bulbs and beautiful bouquets of colorful, gorgeous homegrown Calla lilies. Because we live in New York state, and the winters are very cold and can kill tender Calla lily bulbs, my father had to dig the bulbs out of the ground every autumn and replant them every year in the spring . This was a tedious and difficult process and it showed my father's love and dedication to these Calla lilies. As my father's health deteriorated with age, I began to help him dig up and replant the bulbs until eventually he had to move into an assisted living unit and the bulbs were pulled out for the last time and passed on to family. My father passed away within 3 months of moving into assisted living, but he lives on through my little "Beautiful Wishes" Willow Tree figurine. When I see her sitting on a display shelf by my front door, I think of the joy I would feel when my father would bring a gift of Calla lilies in a beautiful bouquet to show his love and tenderness to me. I miss my father terribly and nothing will take that away, but I'm so grateful that I have a reminder of my father's love and dedication and his "Beautiful Wishes" for my life in my favorite Willow Tree Figurine.

Submitted by Taylor Nance in Asheboro NC, October 2015

June 6 2015, my sister and I lost our father. Because it was the day before my wedding, we kept him on life support till the 12th of June. The circumstance of his death has for a long time left us without peace. On the day of his funeral my sister noticed the calla lily blooming next to our house that my dad wanted to see so bad. She chose to cut the only yellow lily there to place in his casket. To our surprise the next day a yellow lily bloomed in its place. I know he sent it to her to let her know it's ok. Although I wish you made one with yellow calla lilies, the white will do. I hope it brings her peace.

I haven't seen my Grandmother in over 10 years. I just recently saw her over the weekend for Mother's Day and she brought my sister and I two boxes. As we opened the boxes I thought about everything it could be. When I saw the Willow Tree figure there I couldn't help but smile. It made me feel so happy. It is beautiful wishes, one from the flower collection. When I first saw it I fell in love with it. When I got home I put it over the fire place and got on the computer. I looked up Willow Tree's figures and fell in love even more! I'm not sure what it is about these but they make me so happy. i absolutely love them .

A friend (whom I have never met face to face - but whose friendship holds a special place in my heart) surprised me by sending this beautiful piece to me. Every time I look at it, I feel such a positive feeling. It is just beautiful. Friendship is not always about who you have known the longest, and there are just genuinely beautiful people out there with lovely generous, kind hearts. I have been blessed to have met one. In December 2013, at the age of 36, I was diagnosed with breast cancer much to everyone's dismay, and in late January, I underwent a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. My cousin, who is also a breast cancer survivor, surprised me with this special piece to let me know she is thinking of me and sending healing thoughts my way. I was so touched by this beautiful gesture, figure, and symbol that I knew I had to pass it along. I am now sending Willow Tree figures to five special women who have loved, supported, and been dear friends to me through this difficult journey. Thanks, Willow Tree and Susan Lordi, for creating these treasures for us to share and to inspire us.

It was a great experience for both of us that she visited my family a half year later in Germany. As a goodbye gift she left this beautiful thing in my room. At this point I fell in love with my little figure. She reminds me forever of her.

My sister gave me this piece for my birthday this year. Our mother was killed by an impaired driver five years ago. My birthday is close to Mother's Day and this year Mother's Day was very hard for me. My sister gave me this piece, knowing that our mother's favorite flower was Calla Lilies. Mother even had some in her yard that typically do not grow hardily in Southern Indiana. I have tried to grow some as a memory of her but with not much success. This piece reminds me of my mother's love and caring for all her family. My sister has me started on loving Willow Tree angels. Thanks for the memories!

    Beautiful Wishes

Submitted by Kathryn in Pittsburgh, PA, December 2012

It was late in the evening of a busy but fulfilling Christmas day, when my sister-in-law handed me a small, nicely wrapped package and said not to open it til later that night. I was just leaving my brother-in-law's party at the time, so I tucked it away, and pondered on it just briefly. We drove to our home nearly an hour away. I greeted the dog and two cats, took off my coat, put down my purse, and pulled out the package. I waited for my husband, then started to open the card. It was a beautiful green and gold print with a butterfly on it. But tears run down my cheek as I began to read; "Dear Casey, I know this is a difficult time - the first Christmas without your dad. This loss will change you forever. Please remember all the good times you shared, and all the love he gave you." I had lost my father to bone cancer in September. He loved Christmas as much as my brother who I lost 6 years ago to Cystic Fibrosis. I was still fighting shock and pain. With shaking hands I opened the box, and there was a beautiful angel of a girl holding calla lilies, one of my most favorite flowers. She was a Willow Tree "Beautiful Wishes" sculpture. Tears ran freely down my face. My husband came to hold me as I told him I had missed my Dad for the last two days, and had been wanting to cry. I have a little altar in my office where I have a cross and pictures of special friends and the departed, along with special things friends have given me over the years. She holds a place of honor there, next to my father's picture, and below my brother's. I can see them as I type this. I was a horticulturist, as my father, and my grandfather before me. I kind of picture your little woman with the callas as me, standing there with my men. Thank you for such a lovely work of art! God Bless! Casey

My sister took her own life in January this year. It was a massive shock to all of her family and friends. She had never showed any signs of depression and had lead a wonderful life. My parents, who are both elderly ,have suffered such raw grief with the loss of their eldest child. It has affected them both physically and mentally. My sister loved lillies and so I bought this Willow Tree piece and placed my sister's gold chain about her neck, then gave it to my Mother for Mother's Day on behalf of my sister. It means the world to her. Now eight months later my mother and father have presented Willow Tree pieces to both my younger sister and myself. Their wish is for us to remember our sister everyday, and of course we do, but it also shows us that they are beginning to heal. Thank you for creating a means for my family to communicate their emotions, when words just aren't enough.

I have never encountered nor heard of such beautiful, exquisite pieces of art until my 44th birthday of this month when my sister-in-law gave it as a gift to me(Beautiful Wishes). As I opened the box and read the description, I could not contain the emotion I felt. I stared at it, and the longer I held it in my hands, the more I felt that it is not just a carved piece, but more an expression of purity and sincerity of the thought and wish that permeates the piece. For me, it was more than a figurine--it is really a monumental reminder of the love and gratitude of my sister-in-law that I will forever cherish. My sincerest gratitude and admiration goes to the artist, Susan Lordi, for making artwork that will forever touch people's lives as she has done to me! May God bless you more in continuing to do more pieces that will remind humanity that life truly is worth living!

The first time I saw this exquisite figurine it reminded me of my paternal grand mother. Grandma always had lilies growing around the base of her water tank on their small farm property. I purchased one and now have the Forget-me-not figurine for my maternal nana and Beautiful Wishes for my paternal grandmother. They evoke beautiful memories, forever treasured, displayed in Willow Tree in my special glass cabinet. I now have a small collection of Willow Tree Figurines. I often purchase them for gifts as they are perfect and always so appreciated. Carmel

In November 2010 I had a bone marrow transplant. My parents were determined to drive over 800 miles in a snow storm to see me. When they arrived I was really sick from the chemotherapy, bald and had lost almost 20 pounds. The morning after they arrived my father had a heart attack. I was on the 11th floor and he was on the 10th floor of the same hospital! I wasn't allowed off the floor to go and see him and of course he couldn't come up to see me. My poor mother was going from one floor to the other all day. My father recovered and was released almost a week later. They had to leave right after he was discharged so I didn't get to see him other than a quick goodbye. My mom brought me the Courage figurine. It made me cry and smile at the same time and made me feel better. After I got home almost four months later my husband had a little get together with some friends. One of my girlfriends brought me the Beautiful Wishes figurine. I love it! I am going to start my own collection and also give these beautiful pieces to my friends and family!

I wish I could attach a picture of the smile on my host mother's face as she opened it and held it up. :)

I'm 13 years old and was just diagnosed with SLE or Lupus disease. The lupus hit my kidneys pretty hard but luckily the doctors caught it right in time before any scarring occurrd in my kidneys. I didn't need a kidney transplant but I would take a very long time to recover. My great uncle and aunt got me a calla Willow Tree figure. I don't really understand what it means but I think it means that everyone is praying deeply to God, begging for me to heal. It's working, and they are wishing me well. I will have lupus forever but at least I know I have friends and family who will support and help me along the way.

But this one I bought myself as a souvenir of my late mother who passed away in May 2010, she loved those flowers who bloomed in her garden when she suddenly died...and the girl looks like my little 3 year old girl, Charlotte, bringing flower to her 'Mamico'!
