“I carved this piece so that it could be viewed ‘in the round’. You get a different understanding depending on how you turn the piece. If you view from the side where you can see the man and woman's arms around each other, it looks like they're kissing. If you turn it and view it from where you can see their faces and clasped hands, it looks like they're dancing — and it's a totally different piece. I like this duality of interpretation.”

“I sculpted this piece using my parents as models. When I asked them to sit down and get comfortable, they just seemed to fit together so perfectly. It was such a self-directed pose, as though they’ve been doing it for years — and they have! They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2011. The carving on the back is a little added discovery …. ‘I love thee’. I like the sound of the word ‘thee’. It feels poetic and intimate to me."

Music and movement transform this full-scale, beloved figure. The hand-painted base elevates the figure while it turns beautifully to classic, familiar melodies.
Promise is a much requested gift for engagements, weddings and anniversaries. Adding a Musical element makes the gift even more special. The Promise Musical is a wonderful way to recognize love at any stage!

“This sculpture represents a couple who’s navigating life together – the joys, the challenges, and the daily decisions that come with being a family. I hope it speaks to an appreciation for the little things that make life interesting... and how love can renew itself over and over again. It’s the trust and support of each other through the day in, day out that strengthens love – and keeps us in it for the long haul.
“I also designed this piece to work with the children in The Roses in my Garden collection. I hope this helps you create a family grouping that reflects the personality of your own.”
In love's embraceEmbrace Memory Box$29.00Description
Finely crafted, hand-painted wood boxes with hinged lids. Larger size is nice for notes, keys, watches, change and jewelry.
In love's embraceEmbrace Metal-edged Ornament$12.00Description
Small plaque ornaments trimmed with metal lace and adorned with a sprinkling of glitter. A sentiment is printed in elegant script on the back, so that both sides are lovely to view. For the holidays, but equally enjoyed as a birthday, graduation, confirmation, or anniversary gift … in celebration of any occasion.
...just the nearness of you
“I wanted to sculpt a young couple, finding romantic love – the butterflies and uncertainty, the chemistry and electricity – discovered when you’re in each other’s presence. I wanted the piece to be tender and intimate, elegant and quiet… Since the pose is derived from dance, I also wanted it to appear to have movement as you look at different angles.
“My challenge was to carve completely in the round, so that from every view, you have a different understanding… you see variations. There’s no correct way to position the piece.
“There are three touch points – their fingers on both hands, and the tops of their heads. I like this bit of connection… the tingly excitement and shared energy that comes from moments together with a new love.”

I was proposed to by the love of my life on Friday evening - I said yes! On Saturday we had our company Christmas Party and gift exchange. The President of the company was going to announce our engagement at the party. When it was my turn to open my gift, the President made the announcement and when I opened the gift it was the Around You figurine. It couldn't be more perfect! I will treasure it that much more because it will be a reminder of our engagement!Read More >

"Around you" is definitely my favorite among all my Willow Tree collection. The electricity that runs through a touch of a hand was totally captured in this piece. The simplicity and the intensity all in one. Love it!Read More >

Last year I started a willow tree collection for my grandmother with the figurine "around you" she had lost my grandfather a year prior and had had her eye on the figurine on Pinterest forever. One day when we were out shopping I told her I was going to run to the bathroom but I actually ran over to the hallmark store and bought it for her. It sits in the living room and every time I see it I'm reminded of the love they had for each other that I was blessed to see growing up. We also have "Anniversary" and the "Joyful" "Inquisitive" "Imaginative" and "thoughtful" children figures to be my grandparents (again teehee) , my cousins, brother, and myself! But "Around You" is by far my favorite because it reflects the love I've been blessed to see growing up.Read More >

Around You - Brittany Bishop Colorado Springs, CO. I remember wanting this piece as a topper for our wedding cake, but could not afford it. In a way, I'm glad we didn't because I'm not sure I could have appreciated just how meaningful it would be to me in the future. I married my husband at the "ripe ol' age" of 26 and discovered almost right away that many things in my best I had not fully dealt with were effecting our new marriage. I came from a difficult home life as a kid and suffered through verbal abuse from my mother and sexual abuse from someone I don't know. Not just the past, but the present was here to haunt me as well - I had been diagnosed with Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome several years before and was told that infertility would most likely be a big part of my future and my best chance to conceive would be before age 25 (oops). So here I was a young bride suffering from depression and anxiety, who is too traumatized for sex and too old to have babies. I was a mess. Somehow, through it all, my husband has never left my side. He doesn't always know what to do, but he always takes my hand and tells me we will get through it together. When I look at "Around You" I see the joy of my first moments as husband and wife, the fear when I got hurt and couldn't work and he lost his job, the relief that the pregnancy test was negative followed by the deep hurt of it being negative, and countless nights of tears over the loss of my cats to old age and traumas relived. Through all the joy and all the despair he keeps holding my hand, kissing my head and promising we will get through it all together. He is my true best friend and the only man I could imagine being with. He pushes me to aspire to greatness and when I see this piece I see us.Read More >

I could write a book about my Willow Tree's and why each one is my favorite. A dear young friend gave me my first Willow Tree, "Angel of Freedom" for Christmas many years ago. That began my love for them. I treat myself to one occasionally. I got "Promise" because I love to stop what I'm doing in the middle of the afternoon and dance with my sweet husband of 32 years. I also purchased "Together" to remind me that we will be together forever. Two of my brothers gave me "Grandmother" for Christmas. I love "Tree of Prayer" because I know my prayers and heard and answered. I have purchased several as gifts. It's my favorite gift to give. One that will last a lifetime. When my youngest son married I started giving them to he and his wife. When she was pregnant with their son I gave her "Cherish" as they awaited their little miracle. When Carson was born I gave my daughter-in-law "The Quilt" because she rocked him to sleep each night. I gave my son "New Dad" because this is just how he looked when he held his new born son. When my father passed away at almost 90 years old, my daughter-in-law gave me "Hero" because my dad is my hero and he also served in World War II in the Navy. Twenty-three days when my youngest son lost his battle to depression a dear friend gave me "Mother & Son" which I cherish. During this time my brother was my rock and so I bought myself "Brother & Sister" to remind me he is always there for me. Last week as I was purchasing "Promise" to have my sweet 89 year old mother give to her grandson, my nephew and his new bride I saw "Quest"....it reminds me that my precious son is now in the Spirit World continuing to gain knowledge and understanding. I have many more each with a special meaning for me. I take a sharpie and write on the bottom the date and who gave it to my or why I purchased it. Which is my favorite? It depends on what day it is and who is in my thoughts. I would love to have "Around You" because it is a reminder that my husband and I have gone through some terribly difficult challenges in our life but we always, always have each other. I love how they are touching hands and forehands. This reminds me of the many times in the past 25 months, after the death of our son, that we have stood in the middle of the night and held each other and cried knowing that we couldn't do this alone. The description mentions a young couple but I see us in this after 32 years of being around each other and knowing each other so well. Thank you Susan for your gift of artistry and insight into making us have special feelings as we gaze upon your works of art.Read More >

My boyfriend lost his wife to cancer & made this post on Facebook about hands before we met. I was looking for the perfect gift that would be an intimate expression of how special his touch meant to me. He is an amazing writer , as you will see.... The most simple gesture in life is the touch of the human hand. It has always intrigued me how our hands are created. We use hands to hold each other, the first contact outside the womb a baby has is with touching of hands and the last contact a dying person has with this world is touching of hands. The hands guide a blind person, they give us pleasure & bring us work. The touch of the human hand can make another person feel warm inside or make a person retreat. Or hands clasp together when we pray and are raised when we praise God. But the most important part of the hand is that Jesus' hands have holes for my sins of the past, present & future. So today, use your hands to bring warmth to another person's life. Also take the time to hold someone's hand & be in the moment! I was so happy to find the Willow tree couple touching hands together! Thanks, TinaRead More >

Having lost our little cat Poppy who we treated as our baby, I purchased a 'With Affection' piece in memory of him, depicting an angel holding a little cat. Just a couple of weeks later I have now lost my precious darling husband Jack, who was my soul mate, my complete reason for living. From the moment we met there was a wonderful chemistry present between us and ever since I have been taken on a magic carpet ride through life with him. Upon seeing the 'Around You', piece it seemed to depict the magnetism and intimate tenderness we held for each other and the way he touched my very heart and soul with his tenderness, love and kindness. I cherish the memories of the 16 years I spent with this wonderful man and the privilege I had of being his wife. I miss him so very much but take a little comfort from this lovely elegant piece that for me helps relive the 'tingly excitement', and intimate closeness of a very, very special bond of love we had for each other. Thank you for being blessed with a very special talent and compassion in producing these beautiful and meaningful pieces..Read More >

My husband bought me this piece for my 65th birthday, yesterday. He said he bought it because he noticed how everyone loves to be around me. I thought that was really lovely. But to me, it means so much, because my husband never goes and buys presents on his own, he usually asks our daughter for help, or I have to go with him and show him what I would like. So this gift was a wonderful surprise, because it was his own decision. I have several of your pieces now, and they were all bought for special occasions, so they have really special meanings for me. I just love them. Thank you.Read More >

Once upon a time, I was thinking that I never had a musical thing in my childhood! and suddenly I saw this lovely little prayer. but it was expensive and I needed my money to buy some thing else, so I walked away. Then after about 5 min I returned to that store and purchased, because I couldn't forgot her and I fell in love with her in the first look. Now, every day I wake up she is the first one I see. We (me and my husband) are so glad for having her and we wish to have the "Promise Musical " too.Read More >

My husband and I have been married for 34 yrs. One day my daughter told us to turn the radio on . It was Melody Gardot singing "Our love is easy". I said "We need to dance to this." My husband came up to me with his hands up palms facing mine and I put mine up to match his but we werent touching. That is how we danced that song! The electricity running from our hands to each other was unbelievable. It was one of those cherished unforgettable unduplicatable moments! A week later we went to Banff. We were in the Christmas store and my husband called me over and said "look at this." it was the Around You piece with the man and woman's palms together. It was calling our name! It sits on our mantle. Every time I look at it it takes me back to that special, intense, beautiful interlude in our lives! Thanks so much.Read More >

I have just received this as a Christmas gift from my boyfriend; it bought tears to my eyes when I unwrapped it, for, Willow Tree ornaments are just so beautiful, unique & sentimental. His story behind purchasing this one in particular, was that it reminded him of when he first told me that he was in love with me, as we were sat on some wooden logs at a nature reserve in this exact position. Such a beautiful present, reflecting his beautiful heart. Thank you, Susan, for creating such pieces of art.Read More >

In search of my soul Mmte and true love for many years, September 20th, 2013 I found him. We connected that magnificent night in a place that I don't frequent and he was not supposed to be there. But, the divine power performs its work. Our eyes met, and then he made his way to me. On our first dance we held our hands; a feeling that is indescribable! Since that day we have been inseparable, we get the butterflies and an awesome connection of true authentic eternal love. When I received the email from Willow Tree and I clicked on the link of New 2013, I saw the figurine "Around You" immediately I saw Joe and me; it is us! We continue holding each other the same way, our love is intimate, tender and just like you describe it! Our love is romantic and the nearness of each other tells the story of true forever Love! We went to a restaurant a few days ago and there was the piece "Around You." I purchased it and dedicated it to my "Soul Mate," Joe. I want to thank you Susan for designing this piece that truly shows from every angle our true love. We will cherish this piece the rest of our lives. In gratitude and Love, MiriamRead More >

I met a guy on an online game, World of Warcraft, and we started out as buddies to run things in the game, then friends outside of it, then it sparked and grew into a relationship over a span of 3 years. He and I live in different states, and we both were wary of the long distance relationship, knowing how hard it would be, and how we both had tried in the past with other people, knowing they had failed. After a while, we had decided to give it a try, willing to cope with the sacrifice of distance. Last week, I took a trip to Utah to see him and meet his family. It would be the second time we have seen each other in person. (The first time, he made a trip to be with me for a week.) I stayed for a week and a half. While together, sparks continued to fly, and I honestly felt like I was at home with him. He too, feels the same, as we communicate and tell each other our thoughts, concerns, and feelings. His family, after meeting me, all told me that they adored me, and that I was welcome in their homes anytime I wished to come by. The last day I was with him, his Grandmother insisted that I had to see her before I got on the plane to head back to Florida. We met her, along with other members of his family for breakfast. She handed me a wrapped gift, and said that she had noticed it, and thought that it represented what her Grandson and I had and were going through. Opening it, it revealed the Willow Tree "Around You" figurine. Reading the description, both my boyfriend and I smiled at one another and I thanked her for the precious gift. This figurine resembles our sparked love, our curiosity, our bond that has grown even though we are apart, and resembles our figures in real life. Even with the distance, we have a strong bond. We laugh, smile, game together, sing together*, play guitar together*, sleep together (*over Skype), and enjoy the little messages and calls we make. I cannot thank her enough to have given this to me, and it now sits on my desk at work to remind me of the precious love I have found and nurtured. It still continues to grow.Read More >

This piece was given to me on my 43rd birthday August 7th by my one and only true love. When we are around each other nothing else in this world, nay universe matters. It is only she and I, she makes everything better, I smile, I laugh, I love more and better because of her. She makes my heartbeat faster with just the thought of her name, her very presence brings out everything that is good about me. To me she is the rest of my life. The piece means so much to me; its simplicity gives it a complexity that is indescribable, lovers sharing a gaze, a moment in time.Read More >

I saw this in a shop a few days ago and I just had to have it. On the 26th of July my boyfriend, someone I honestly believed was my forever, passed away from terminal leukemia. It's shattered me and although I'm young, seventeen, I know he's changed me. And the loss of him is tearing me apart. When I saw 'Around You', it brought me to tears, right there in the middle of the shop. I was crying because it so clearly captured us. The clasped hands, touching foreheads, it was so us. I now wake up to seeing this and I smile, usually with tears in my eyes, but it is a smile. And a smile is better than a frown. I had a dream of the two of us together, as did he, and now we are, just not in the way either of us expected.Read More >

I received my first Willow Tree figurine "Around You" on Valentines Day 2013. This was a gift I received from my fiance Larry as we celebrated our first Valentines together. This piece is special to both of us for several reasons, one being the intimacy, romance, and bond shown between the statues… The pose itself is also very similar to a favorite portrait of Larry and me. The time he took to find such a special piece with so much meaning left me with joyful tears, a happiness words cannot express. Larry and I met while I was working in a convenience store. Several months followed with few words and a phone call from him asking if we sold bologna just for a reason for him to come in. He would enter the store always with the kindest voice, “Hello pretty lady” and leaving me with a smile and melted heart. Now a year later I’m very much in love and spend every day with many smiles! Not one day goes by he doesn’t leave me speechless with his kind words while melting my heart with his every touch and spinning my head with a simple look. I would have loved to have shared our portrait to show the pose which is the very reason this piece caught his eye. I hope this piece touches many more couples as it has us--definitely something I will cherish for years to come.Read More >

I lost my partner, best friend, girl friend my everything to cancer December 2012, she was only 46 and taught me the true meanings of words such as courage and grace. We only had a short time together in the scope of life 3 years total. However she was my soul mate, my Cinderella and I miss her terribly. I was in a store today and saw the "Around You" piece and began to cry. My whole world has changed since losing her, as she was Canadian and I am American. I was able to go to her and live with her and spend this last year with her during her battle with cancer. I then had to leave virtually everything associated really with her behind as I came back to the States. Of course I cherish the wonderful memories of her and us but this piece "Around You" is her speaking to me, touching me, my soul and my heart. Thank you so much for this beautiful gift as I signed the card from Stacy to Jason.Read More >
